
The Rules Committee elected in 2003, met this week and decided the following:
- The
Croquet season will begin play on Monday, May 17th at 7:00 pm.
- League games will be conducted on Memorial Day, May 31, as well as Monday,
July 5th.
- Playoffs have been set for Monday, August 23rd and Tuesday, August 24th
2004 Rule Updates and Changes
- Both courts must be completely set-up before balls are allowed on the field
for practice.
- In order to synchronize multiple courts, games will be timed.
After 48 minutes, all players will have one more round of shots.
- Third place will continue to be awarded to the lead ball after 2nd place has
pegged out, even if time has not expired. (Neither of these rules will apply
in the playoffs.)
- The referee of each game will be a "blue" player from a different
game.
- If a ball fails to clear the first wicket, it is considered "live" and
can
be played off of.
- After the completion of each game, the name of ALL players will go into one
hat.
- Winners of one game will no longer be paired with winners of the other game.
- Any player dropping out of a game will be penalized 5 points from his season
total, unless it is emergency.
- The last game curfew is 11:10pm, no league games may begin after that time.
- Dogs are not allowed on the courts per orders of the Parks Dept. and Olmsted
Conservancy.
- Use of cell phones during play is greatly discouraged.
- The Rules Committee will attempt to meet once more this season to discuss a
playoff format.
- In 2005 the Rules Committee will be disbanded in favor of an open meeting to
all players who wish to attend. The annual meeting will be held every April
to
discuss dates and vote on any possible rule changes.
